Bruisiing w/in jars????
    #2946931 - 07/31/04 02:08 AM (12 years, 4 months ago)

Hey everyone, so I did a G2G transfer, and now have eight jars incubating. I had to throw one out as it was green all over--I mean, it was obviously a green mold, there was a tinge of this on nearly every rye berry around the sides of the jar that I could see.
What I'm wondering is; well, sorry, first, this rye was soaked, then frozen (as I made too much the first time out, hence the G2G); this seems to have caused it to be a bit dry in the jars. Some jars are looking okay, though the myc is a bit wispy (not cobweb, I 've had that shit). But on one jar, I'm seeing tinges of color on some of the grains. However, it looks sort of like bruising, rather than green. Anyone had experience with bruising in the jar, when the grain may be a bit dry?
I may have to add some moisture to them, though I'm not sure, we'll see how they colonize in the coming days. Sorry, I can't get a decent digital pic of the jar. Tried..blurry.
Anyway, thanks!

GB

Yep, mycelium can start to bruise a little when drying out on grain. Adding moisture is tough to do, but may be worth a shot. IME when the grain is dry like that, the mycelium will tend to stop before colonization is complete.
Good luck!

Thanks! Yeah, this is not something I'm looking forward to if I have to do it. I have my syringe left over from innoc. I suppose it would be best just to PC it and give it a shot..... Can anyone recommend any teks for doing this sort of rehydration? Thanks all.
