    #2946826 - 07/31/04 01:27 AM (13 years, 24 days ago)

I cant remember where but i read some where that water from a natural soruce is best because it has more minerals and nutrients in it

I have a fast running river near my house is it okay to use?

I would boil it before mixing in jars and useing it for dunking if its okay.

Thanks for you time.

Sure just be sure to boil it and it will work fine.

Cubensis mycelia can grow well in a PF jar that is approximatly 25% nutritive and 75% non nutritive. Don't worry about cramming the nutrients in there, it's just not necessary for cubensis mushrooms. If you want more nutrients, do bulk cultivation

It won't hurt the process at all, but I doubt you'll see any real benefit either.

I would NOT use it for dunking cakes. Pure distilled water is what you want to dunk your cakes in, not some questionable outdoor source. Boiling won't remove the heavier metals.

Summation: You can use it, but it won't be worth it. I've tried all sorts of liquid additives to both grain and PF jars and never noticed much of a change. If you want to add something that might be helpful, search for the "Coffee experiment" and do some experimentation with that.

I use water from dumping a couple of gallons thru my compost barrell. It is all black and funky. I do not strain it at all. When I make cakes that is what I use. IT MAKES A BIG BIG DIFFERENCE. I have found twice as many pins on the cakes done this way. The shrooms don't seem to be anymore potent but there is definitly a real benifit to the cakes.
