Yellow tint and hardening of new leaves
    #2946095 - 07/30/04 08:55 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

On one of my Datura plants, the younger leaves have a dark yellow tint on the top surfaces and they are more brittle than the older ones. None of the leaves have fallen off and the seedpods still seem to be maturing, but I was woried about disease. Is this in fact a disease and what can I do about it?

nutrients comes to mind. underfertilised? or maybe over? probably not over as tehre would most liekly be other things. may have missunderstood but thats what it usually is with most of my plants. i dotn grow datura so there may be some spcific problem, but i dont think so. my 2 cents.

I did some soil prep (llama shit, bone meal, and blood meal) however my other Datura plant is in the same soil conditions and doesn't have the same issue... Maybe I should give it more fertilizer?

You should read this thread.

The crispiness sounds like classic Ca deficiency.

Some of the leaves on my Datura metel plants experience similar things. Larger leaves sometimes seem yellow, and the tips brown a little once in a while. All the new leaves are beautiful.

Thanks Neuro. Have you made that sticky yet. What would you recomend me do to correct this?

It was added to the FAQ useful thread section (that needs updating).

I'd suggest you get an all around fertilizer that contains macro and micronutrients.

Thank you very much. This is the only ferox plant that I had grow and its gotten pretty big, so I would hate to lose her.
