do you rinse off the straw

was going to make my 1st straw log. been cooking the straw for hour 15 min now at 170 . now do i rinse it off and let sit to drain? or do i squesse it out and let cool befor i roll it with casings? :confused:

Just drain it out overnight.

i always rinse my straw off first. actually let it soak with a bit of detergent to help rinse off the dirt then run under the shower till water runs clear. then i chop and pasteurize it. no problems for me with this method.
