Yes I will be sorry. A man cannot live on straw alone. I refuse to eat only straw. You knew about my diet McMan but that remark of me eating only straw was totaly uncalled for. And mushrooms prefer not to live on straw alone either.'
I was just suprised at how dark the water was.

Tom you asked. After the straw is cooked does it turn brown-yellow?
Well that all depends on what kind of straw you are using. Oat straw stays a clean bright yellow color. Timothy hay turns green. I don't have any idea what color wheat straw turns....Sorry

When I pasteurized horse dung the water turned a really dark brown/redish color. Could you use that with birdseed in substrate?

You shoe could Jeelix. And McMan I think I am a cow in this life; that's propably why you thought I was eating only straw.
And another question: How much spawn do you all usually use for about 2 square feet? I used about 3 quarts of birdseed. When you mix up the straw and spawn does all the birdseed sink/find it's way to the bottom? I tried to get it as evenly distributed as possible.
And no I haven't been around the horse lately.
