myc growth issues...
    #2942152 - 07/29/04 10:33 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

well just a scenario.. lets say bart simpson started his cakes in may.. he made 4 of them.. and used matias romero spores... well it is now july 29th and 3 of the cakes arent even 50% colonized and one is about 75% colonized.. he doesnt see any signs of mold or anything that is looking odd.. what could possibly be wrong?
The cakes are made with rye flour/verm/and about 2 tablespoons of tea
the temp stays at about 80F.. he has no clue what to do right now and he is contemplating just dumping them outside letting nature try its luck and starting over... any advice for bart?

patience man. are the holes covered? if so take off the tape & turn upside down. why did you add tea?
start more if you would like, but if they are still slowly colonizing, let 'em be.

Never heard about the tea thing before. If you are tired of waiting, you can take the one thats 75%, cut the uncolonized parts off taking a little of the colonized part with it, and then case. Of corse use sterile knife. I use plastic baggies over my hands for this.

Why the tea?
Pf always takes a little longer, especially if it is your first grow. It seem to take forever.

The tea? well either bart read it somewhere that tea/coffee helps growth or.. he was really loaded and he thought he read that when what he really read was something completely different...

sounds like there may not be enough moisture in the jars. if the substrate is dried out the myc can't properly colonize.
