im doing 70/30 coir/verm.. will post pics soon - its my first casing as well.

Magesh,
I was thinking about trying the vermic/coir casing method with my Mazapatecs. Is Coir better than peat moss? How much CaCO3 should i add to it? I have the powdered CaCO3 and the crushed oyster shell.

I don't know that it is any better but it's as good for sure and less of a pain to use. No lime or oyster shells needed. Just coir and verm.

so, don't the crushed oyster shells add some footing for the developing shrooms to hold on to? And I also heard that the CaCO3 reduces contam b/c of the pH change.
I don't know it this was by change or what, but when I started using the Calcium Carbonate products, I started to get large yields.

I use Magash's grain tek but I use 50/50 peat verm. Works good so far.

pure verm is great for the biginner but I prefer coir/verm
peat is a pain with having to add lime but is great as well they all work as well as the other but do have their own qualities
