I can't believe this shit is happening.
I want to tell this like a bedtime story because it's so unreal.
Sudan, south of Egypt, west of Saudi Arabia, has the unfortunate problem that while the people majority of the people are black, there is an a-rab minority. Worse than that the government is mostly arab. So there's this arab milita called the janjaweed. They've been killing the blacks. So far they've killed 50,000. They like to rape the black women in front of their husbands. They also recently have begun riding into markets, looting them, rounding up all the black people, chaining them together, and burning them alive.
So, understandably, some of the other proud nations on this planet are becoming alarmed. Our own congress held a long meeting and eventually the result was that now they officially consider it genocide! France is considering economic sanctions! Kofi Annan is trying to rally the UN to send a peacekeeping force to Sudan to sort shit out. Many countries actually are willing to commit troops to this. What does the Sudanese president Omar Al-Bashier say to the prospect of having UN troops come in to assist the Sudanese govt. controlling the janjaweed militia? He sez don't come in. We will control this on our own. If you send troops in we will make war on your troops. By all accounts of aid workers in the region the atrocities are continuing with no hindrance from the Sudanese govt. What race is Omar? Can you guess?

Nice Real Post...Having just read that it makes me wonder why so many Americans are satisfied with CNN, Fox News, Msnbc, and the like.
I am a true fan and donator to Pacifica.......Democracy Now is just a bit of their news.......
The U.S. media would never cover that,like so many other news worthy stories in the World.
I wanna right a bunch more but i gotta tend to my bar-b-que.......i know self centered

Its a real sad situation with no easy solution. The Sudan has been a horrible place for a long time, from legal slavery to genocide they certainly have one of the most screwed up political systems/culture on earth at the moment.
I do know however that not enough attention has been paid to this issue.

This is terrible. If a coalition is created to force aid, I wonder what country's troops will be first? The US already seems stretched too thin.

What would a coalition do? Kill the bad guys then leave? They would then just go back to there old ways. There culture is fundamentally flawed.
