Paul Stamets book "ps mush of the world" says
moderately to highly active. Found byJohn Allen
on Koh Samui island. Prefers common habitat
as ps. cubensis and pan cyanescens.
I'm surprise to hear of no cultivation attemps.
Peace,
MPG

I grew the petfungus P samuensis and it turned out to be Psilocybe semiglobata or something similar. I knew something was up when he said he collected the wild specimens in the Fall in Eugene, Oregon.

Sorry to hear about that, at least I and who ever else reads this will know not to buy prints from petfunus.com.
Thanks for the info! Peace,
MPG
I wonder if he knows he is selling falsely identified prints.

I told him but he didn't believe me. He was confident in his identification. You could always read the fine print near the bottom of the Spore Bank page.

Hi Workman, sorry to here about the problem with the alleged Oregon P. samuiensis since it does not grow there.
Whoever made this hoax is stupid.
So he personally identified them from Oregon. Impossible. He would have needed a powerful microscope and then he would have found that they were not my species unless he actually went to Thailand and found some since they do not grow here and if he did make a microscopic ID then I am sure they would have been exactly like you say they were. Since P. semiglobata grows in manure and P. samuiensis grows in manured soil he should have noticed the difference.
Anyway thanks for straighten that guy out.
Mj
Also if anyone has any spores it would be Gartz.
Workman,
I think I can get you a dried cap from one of my herbarium deposits. Can you grow any form such if I am able to get one? If so I would like several sporeprints back on the cultivation of this species if I can obtain a cap.
Thanks
Mj

I have done it before. If the caps have not been fumigated or treated in any way it should be possible. I could even return the cap virtually intact after spore extraction if you needed to replace it in the herbarium.
Here are some of the mushrooms I grew from the Petfungus "samuiensis". I am afraid I didn't actually straighten him out and he wanted the resulting prints. I am sure he is still selling them as samuiensis.

Hey Guys,
what you are waiting for, this is a chance to reanimate a lost species.
This is the peak of mushroom experience.
Don't hesitate, its worth the action.

Hi Workman,
I tried to email that doofer at petfungus. He has a lot of wild spores of mushrooms that do not do anything, many psilocybes, at least I would doubt his identification on many species since I cannot conceive him haveing spore samples of some species.
Anyway my stupid Outlook Express does nnot work on my computer so I could not email him.
He lists no email address but i see he is still listing the mushrooms spores for samuinesis for sale.
Do you have a working email address which does not go throough theoutlook express, because it did not list his number.
john
I'll contact the Bernice Bishop Museum in Honolulu on Tuesday and see if they can legally send me one specimen.
Have a shroomy day and may all of your days be shroomy.

Hi Mjshroomer,
I e-mailed the dude a while back and he still stands by his ID and is still selling the falsely ID'ed specimens.
