That's what that arab said in Fahrenheit 9/11 as he was helping clean up the bodies of children killed in the bombings. It's an interesting quote. Is that from the Koran? Does that have an equivalent from the bible? Is that related to reincarnation...you die and then if you no longer fear it, then you are reincarnated? Is it saying that if you die bravely god lets you go on living in heaven? probably that one right?

Very philosophical, but everyone dies. One of the problems in our society is the widespread notion that people believe (and act like) THEY are immortal. Carlos Castaneda called this the conspiricy of the immortals. I think that description is hilarious. Death cuts to the quick and eliminates the pettiness in life. We need more mortals not people who think they ain't gonna die.

WE are immortal, our bodies arent. so perhaps the problem is that we do not realize WE are immortal? We should not fear death. The reason people fear death is becuase they think that they will no longer exsist, and thats a scary thought. well thats a bullshit thought and not true. we are immortal.

the only thing you might consider wrt your own death, is making a few simple arrangements that simplify the issues for lives left behind.
all the rest of your mind should be attuned to life itself. in that sense, don't waste energy in fear (obsession) of death. the sources of such insight are not material.
immortality? -> also a non issue since it is an obsession with death(am I turning into swami?)

I don't fear death. It is not a scary end, but rather the beginning of something new, a rebirth of sorts.
I have this philosophy personally, and it makes life more enjoyable.

While I believe in this eternal life you speak of, I am refering to physical death. The fact that so many people act with utter disregard is that they mistakenly believe they have all the time in the world to dwell on this rock. Consequentially, they are consumed with pettiness and minutia. Awareness of one's death minimizes this. The afterlife may be waiting, but the here and now is what is important now. Many believe that the quality of this life affects the quality of the afterlife. So, don't minimize what we have now.

Doesn't that seem wierd? If "WE" 'live' infinate lives, then this 'life' in infinately small in comparison. Dont you think it is wierd to think that such a small portion of 'life' has such a great impact on an eternal life? Seems kind of hard to believe to me. Maybe it has no impact, and we just take it as an experience, just as you take siting at your computer in this life an experience.

Immortality is not far away. With development of nano-technology and genetic engineering we will soon be able to turn off those little clocks in your cells which tell them to die.
Of course it will spell the beginning of the end. Maybe this is what happens in 2012.

it's natural for humans to be afraid of the unknown, and how can anyone really know what happens after you die. and as for no longer existing, well if that happens you won't really care because you'll no longer exist, and you won't have to deal with anymore pain, suffering, death birth, bullshit, drama, evil, or anything else that sucks about life, but I don't think we just go out like a light, wouldn't make any sense. I mean If you have a soul (which I believe exists), then its probably made of pure energy, which according to physics, energy can neither be created or destroyed, so it always was and always will be. it never stops it just gets distibuted to other places. And could you honestly picture not existing, I mean what the fuck would that be like? cause I can't even imagine. but believing in the soul and not being able to picture oblivian might all be my minds defense mechanism to keep me from discovering the truth for fear I might not be able to accept it. who knows? not me.

"Doesn't that seem wierd? If "WE" 'live' infinate lives"
IF we live infinite lives this may be true, but a bird in the hand is still worth 3 in the bush. Don't throw out this life because of a misplaced belief. Also life after death does not mean we carry our individuality into the spirit world. Buddhists seek to erase the life experiences and individuality when Nirvana is reached and we return to the whole.

According to the Tibetan Book of the Dead (Evan Weisz' translation), if you do not fear and if you're not in awe of the events in the intermediate state (Bardo), you attain Buddhahood. You get several chances in the intermediate state, but for every try you fail, you end up in a slightly 'lower' incarnation.

No matter your spiritual belief you should cherish life. I was born with a terminal condition which has caused me to truly appreciate what I have.....the terminal condition is called life.

religions are created because people fear death. I suppose believing in an afterlife comforts some, but I've become content in realizing that there is no way of knowing what happens after death until it occurs, and that the most logical explaination is that our brains simply stop functioning and we lose the ability to think and be alive... cease to exist. I figure that if I am not able to fear death nor crave life while I am dead, I have no reason to fear the inevitable.
I am just *here*

this would mean that the only people in the history of the human species who have not had a fear of death are currently living and were born, at the very most, less than about 125 years ago.
