That the writer of Alice in Wonderland never had a trip and was very anti-drugs! Pffft!

Yeah, I've never heard of that.. but I seriously doubt it.
I've only seen the movie, so perhaps the book is different, but the drug references were so incredibly abundant in that movie that I just can't see any anti-drug individual having written it. It simply "suggests" drugs way too heavily to be written by someone who is anti.

Yeah, he must have had a very vivid imagination!
I don't think Tolkien was into drugs either, I'm not certain - can anyone clarify that?

I don't think Tolkien's stories required any more than a very active imagination and an amazing understanding of language (both of which he Definitely had). IMO, lotr doesn't really make me think about drugs

I heard something completely different...I heard that the guy was a big fan of opium. Either way, the guy had an amazing imagination.

I read at a migraine website ,that he suffered from intense migraines, and that the visons were born inside his head during that intense pain.(Migraine sufferes can have some pretty vivid daydreams) But I could just as easily belive he suffered from migraines and that smoking opium brought him relief. (and much stronger days dreams.....i.e. He was "on the nod" ) BLASTID, its Lewis Carrol that wrote Alice in Wonderland, not Tolkien.

Hmm, I read about it in Fortean Times - he was an alcoholic but not into anything else at all.

I know I know, I was just responding to the post above me, who commented aside on Tolkein.

Technically, "Alice in Wonderland" is the Disney movie, while Lewis Carrol wrote "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland."
So maybe the Disney guy is the anti-drug one :P

yeah, I've read a lot of conflicting literature on this subject. Some say he did opium /and cocaine. Some say he did no drugs at all. Hmmm.. I wonder what the truth is.
