    #2936072 - 07/28/04 01:43 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

Hey Im new to this hobbie and like many I have questions. One is my fruits are small and few and far between. Why? Also I there is a blue green coloration on the cake but it is still producing mushrooms. Can I eat them or will I die? any help would be awsome

Try gently touching the blue-green part with a sanitized finger.. if the color comes off onto your finger, it's a contam. If not, it could just be a bruise. Maybe your cake is too dry? That would explain the small fruits and the bruising (if that's what it is). Also, how often are you fanning?

If you want bigger fruits/yeilds you should start thinking about using grains like WBS/popcorn. Substrate depth plays a big role in size of fruits.

i too have figured out, that fresh air exchange is key role in fruits ... i just recently cut holes and applied Polyfill in my terrarium, for fresh air exchange ... no matter wut substrate u use, u will most likely get small mushrooms with little/no air exchange. ...

'WBS' stands for Wild Bird Seed.
