I always apply a very thin casing layer over anything I scratch. Basically to protect the injured mycelium. With Ps. Cubensis a scratch is only necessary IMO when the surface is colonized by layers and layers of matted, shiny mycelium (severe overlay). Usually I just cover with a very thin layer, without the scratching...

In my few encounters with cob web I found deep scratching to only make it worse, so what I did was got another container and just flipped the casing over into that container and put my casing material on top. Making a new casing, so you can basically start from scratch all over without all the work.

I had to recently scratch to help my casings pin. You might want to check out your casing to make sure its pH and constitution are right. In my case I had way too much peat, and not nearly enough vermiculite in the mixture. Perlite is no vermiculite replacement; lesson learned. Make sure your temps are good too 74-80F, fan and mist 3X/day. Good luck!!!

"There is a world beyond ours, a world that is far away, nearby, and invisible. And there is where God lives, where the dead live, the spirits and the saints, a world where everything has already happened and everything is known. That world talks. It has a language of its own. I report what it says. The sacred mushroom takes me by the hand and brings me to the world where everything is known. It is they, the sacred mushrooms, that speak in a way I can understand. I ask them and they answer me. When I return from the trip that I have taken with them, I tell what they have told me and what they have shown me."
