Fruting a casing vertically?
    #2934763 - 07/28/04 12:44 AM (12 years, 4 months ago)

If you fruited a casing with one of the sides facing down, would this result in larger flushes due to the much increased surface area?

The only thing Im stuck on is getting a casing layer on the sides. It would be impossible to sprinkle it on without it just falling off (the top and bottom would now be the sides)

Perhaps you could put the casing mixture in the grow container below and on all sides of the casing and ofcourse the top and let it colonize, and then stand it vertically. If it colonized would the casing mixture stick? Would the casing layers on the bottom and sides no colonize due to no air exposure?

Cubensis can be fruited from vertical surfaces. You can take an entire casing out of the container once colonized and it will stay together. This is typically called a "flat cake". A casing layer is not required for cubensis, so it will still fruit from the uncased surfaces...

Make sure you keep the humidity high, as this method is prone to faster evaporation.

Do you think A casing layer would stick once colonized? Do casings colonize if they dont have direct contact with the air? If I could having a casing layer on all sides fruiting I wouldnt have to worry about humidity as much.
