Hello all, just checking to see how my Floyd brothers and sisters are doing and if anyone is basing any future trips on the concepts of The Floyd.
i just got through with another rather depressing Wall dose, We are showing the Meddle/2001 A Space Oddessy on my boys projector next week!!!!
anyone like Dubside of the Moon or The Machine??

I'm going to a festival at the weekend where Dub side of the Moon will be performed in it's entirity. Can't wait, I love that album! Was very suprised how well it worked.
A trip without pink floyd isn't a real trip IMHO (I think I need to try and break away from that mentality a bit though..)

Animals is so much raw Floyd I love it, raw production level floyd that is. Every album is completly different, and I am an Animals type, does it get any better then Dogs?
If your into music no, if your into lyrics and meanings you may not like it nearly as much.

OOOH... thats what you meant by "him"... pink floyd isn't a man. its the name of the band. the members being David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Rich Wright, Roger Waters, and at one point, Syd Barrett. And i can defiantly see why people would want to listen to them for their whole trip. They have so many different sounds. from the Relics and Atom Hear Mother era, to The Division Bell era, theres a plethora of sounds and textures to their music.

i definately dont have a favorite album because their material is so different Animals is definately one of their all around bests fuckin who likes old Floyd? Piper and Saucerful always rock obscured by clouds has some great songs but that album wasnt but together great at all they kinda just threw songs on there. Ummagumma is the best example of RAW Pink Floyd without anything being over-thought or preprocessed not Animals, listen to Several Small Species and tell me how Roger made all those sounds

naw... its not that ummagumma is anymore raw than animals... its was just made at a whole different points on their evolution as a band. almost 10 years apart.

I think I'm the only one here who prefers to listen to The Wall, all the way through, when I want some Pink. Something about disc 2, right around "The Trial" that just..takes me away. It's so powerful. First time I ever took acid (and this was defenitely 1 hit acid..it was crazy) I watched the movie "The Wall" and it just blew me away. I've never felt more connected in my entire life, despite the fact that I had no clue what the album really stood for.

Call me old fashioned, but I think Dark Side and Wish You Were Here are the best. The live disc from Ummagumma is great, and Animals is certainly good. Echoes and One of these Days from Meddle are also extremely good tracks. But when looking at their albums in their entirety, DSoTM and WYWH are flawless imo. Oh, and Comfortably Numb one of my favorites.
