I have many varieties of coleus, i don't really find them worth smoking. But i've come up with some other uses which I will talk about sometime before the end of summer.

I was told by someone that eating them is the only way to use it. I've never tried them myself but he said the brightly colored ones were the best. He said you needed a lot of leaves like 30 large ones or so.

i read that too but didnt have that many. plants are still somewaht small. they are the nice bright green with redy/pink centers. once it reaches a decent size ill try eating them.

is it important if its fresh/dried? and should i chew up and mix around in my mouth or just swallow em?

neuro, please let me know when your done. i am really interested in them.

There are two species of coleus which should be the most interest to to entheophiles: ]Coleus blumei and Coleus pumilus.

C. blumei is brightly colored and is mottled with red, gree, yellow, and purple. The flowers are dark blue or whitish.

C. pumilus is a low herb with lax stems that tend to hang on the ground or over the sides of the pot. The leaves don't exceed 2 inches.

Use only the leaves and pre-seed flowering tops for best effect.

Fresh leaves and leaves that have fallen off the plant (but are not dried or diseased) are best. Dried material has little to no effect. If you're waiting for enough to get a dose, store them in the freezer. Make a tea.

i believe the salvinorin-like triterpines in the plant are broken down during digestion as in the salvinorins from S. divinorum. in this case, eating them wouldn't be effective. i have had a little success using a quid and seen evidence of activity with smoked leaf dried at room temperature [the ones that dried out while on the plants]

>>i believe the salvinorin-like triterpines in the plant are broken down during digestion as in the salvinorins from S. divinorum. in this case, eating them wouldn't be effective.

But any literature i've come across on the subject states that dreid leaves are totally ineffective. Thus i think rapid pyrrolization would come to the same effect.

Anymore reports on the activity, i think the use of coleus is a wholly unexplored thing.

Smoking any sort of plant material will give a tiny buzz just from the smoke. I'm not saying there is no effect cause I don't know but anything weaker than sceletium I don't bother to smoke. Just my system. From what I've heard only eating or tea works.

Yeah, I didn't consider the placebo-ish head buzz one gets from smoking anything (or holding your breathe) as noticable effects. I always get that from smoking anything too.

the effect acnieved by myself via smoking C. blumie and a C. blumie hybrid i used to have has always been a combination of hypoxia and both the rushing sensation and that of a great physical force pressing downward on my forehead at the center that initiates the salvia experience just before i am forced backward into the other [or altered] place.

pretty neat i think, but it did nothing more. just that push or rush for a few mins and it was over and back to my weed high.
