slow karo growth

hello i have a question for karo users. i have had my jar in my incubator at 86 degrees. for a week and a half. the jars growing good mycelium. around the spores i put in there. the colonization is about the size of a pea pod around all spores. i just haven't had the wide spread growth that i have seen some members produce under the same tek (ex. like the jar is 1/3 to 1/2 full of mycelium) the tek i used specified that after two weeks you should remove it from the incubator. am i able to leave this in the incubator until i have established enough mycelium. to make this tek worth my while. is does leaving any longer than 2 weeks have detrimental effects.
any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Make sure once you have a large chunk of mycelium in the jar to shake it up and evenly disperse the mycelium. This will make for much more growth in your jar. Have Fun!

Likely the reason the tek said to remove from incubator after two weeks because generally at that time there will be good colonization and you dont want the mycelium to use up all of the nutrients in the water too quickly. If your jar isnt colonized that much then you wont have to worry about that, so you can leave it in the incubator until colonization is more complete. make sense?

Some ppl put marbles or shards of glass in the jars to help break up the mycelium for faster growth.

Giving it a good swirly every day does pretty much the same thing.

if your a guy you should have no problem mixing the myc up without glass in the jar(you should be used to the motion)

Glass shards does work nice if you don't shake at regular intervals. Also if ya leave it or forget about it for a long while those shards will become your bestest friend Now ya have to realize that even pea to nickel sized growth in several places will once shaken be one hell of a "hot" dose for your bags, jars, tubes, etc; GL stargazer and welcome!

you dont really need that much in there a peapod size colony is alot thats millions of cells same as spores more is nice but you really dont need all that many that will be just fine the longer you let it sit the more chance it has to get infected with somthing you dont want

very true, but with having more mycellium you have more of a chance of actually picking the stuff up with a needle. if i stopped now i would just get more karo/water than anything else! when i used malt Ex the stuff would make a huge cloud of mycellium that was hard to see because the malt clouded the hell out of it. which is why i went to this karo tek, so that i could see the mycellium better for quicker more effient extraction.
thanks for the replies
