rapid expansion of mycellial mass = more innoculant = more jars. and the whole pure strain isolation thing, although this is a little bit time consuming and takes several transfers, im sure there are tricks to it but my friend is new at it. being able to clone a mushroom is another plus because that IS a pure strain automatically. 1petri can innoc 10 jars. 1 print could probably make god knows how many plates. get one pure strain plate and that could go to 10 or more other plates then those ten plates to 100+ jars, hell yeah.

I have been having huge problems with mold since spring has arrived.

And I find that using agar tends not to produce the type of growth that you are referring to. I have to do several transfers to different media to get what you are looking for.

Agar culture + pure strain isolation + good sterile Technique= UNIFORMITY
Of course if you pick a bad strain out of these , well you can imagine. Or if the proper environment isn't maintained, you can imagine.
Uniformity=increased yield
