Heimia seeds are really small... I had very good germination rates though. I sprinkled them on the surface of the soil quite liberally, and had to thin them out a lot! I probably threw away 100 seedlings, just because I wasn't expecting that many to germinate.... I kept the soil moist, and put cling-film over the top to keep their atmosphere at around full humidity. I still have a load of seeds if you want some good ones.

>>Q: Do salvia use long time to recover from a gel transport (the cutting is from the shroomery vendor mushmush.nl) maybe una can answer me this: can it be that the gel is still on the roots ? will this be a problem- im pretty sure most of it got washed away but im starting to wonder I hardened off quite a few Salvia's without problems. Since the medium contains sugars it may give problems with infection if it isn't washed of completely.Although your pic is a bit blurry it still seems pretty ok to me. Just give it a little time, and when you see new growth give it a little more air (don't take of the jar completely!)

Heimia seedlings really slow each other down. I would definatly reccomend that you repot them as soon as possible.
Mine shot up really quickly once they where moved outside.

salvia update, salvia has been transfered to self watering pot and it seems to do fine there. the plant seems to get healthier and healthier for every day. Sinicuichi update. Ok they did not transfer well, only one survived (left pic) but is very weak, i left the others in the pot alone . I will plant more seeds of this plant under better conditions soon and concider these to be "test plants" I have bundle flower seedlings coming up now, and the tobacco is doing well also. Californinan poppies is a sad story indoors, i threw them out because i could see really soon no chance. These will wait to next year. I tried to transplant chicalote also, i have one thats still alive. will not try to grow this plant again, I will see how long the one I have will live and thats it. edit: pics moved up.

Yeah heimia sure are fragile. You'd be surprised how quickly they can recover though given enough direct sunlight.
I found that the root system grows very quickly. Mine started becoming root bound only 1 month after transferring.

updatet last post with the pics i couldnt upload last time Una: it goes very well. I was wondering about one thing. as you can see on the pics i use a pretty big glas jar over it. Should I just let it grow inside it until there is no mare space or should I try to adopt it early to a lower humidity. i measured the room humidity to be 44% today. This varies from 25 to 50%. I tried to lift off the glass and the leaves fall down after not very long time. ?? will update more pics of it in a day or two also i have lots of san pedros coming up now. every day is christmas in my grow room but there will be no more species for now, I will wait until the winter\spring next year. stay tuned

San Pedro (Trichocereus Pachanoi) Light: ;Fluorescent 2x58W full colorspectrum bulbs Photoperiod: 15\9 Medium: 60% cactus soil 40% verm&perlitte Watering: bottom watering and light misting. Humidity: Is kept under plastic Temps: 24 C/17 C 09sep im having some algea problems, gonna try to get rid of most soon. 06 aug 31aug. Seeds just started to germinate. are being kept moist under plastic wrap. they seems to do ok. as soon as the winter is over im gonna plant way more san pedro and also peyote and peruvian torch and some other cactuses as well. I am worried how these seedlings will take the winter, im not sure if late summer is the best time to start up cactuses. any opinions on this?

They'll be OK inside, in a fairly bright position. They don't like too much light anyway when young. My young seedlings spend winter under a little flourescent lightbulb, and they keep growing just fine.
Good luck with them!
