Although it's hard to tell from the photo (;)), it looks like your heimia are about the same size as mine. I keep their soil nicely damp by occaisional bottom watering, so as not to disturb them, and keep them in a plastic bag. This keeps humidity high, so they don't need watering very often at all. Mine are under flouros, I don't think I'm going to risk stronger light until they're about an inch tall, because they look a bit fragile to me.
I'm not saying that is the best way to do it, though... I would also like to know what their natural habitat is like!

It's native from Mexico to Argentina. Well drained soil with a good supply of water is good.

Keep the soil wet by misting or bottom watering until all the seeds have germinated. Once the first true leaves appear expose the pot to more and more sun and let the surface dry between waterings.

If anyone can tell me what specie the seedling is I will give the person the rest of the seeds I have to this plant in reward  unless I am breaking a rule or something now of course.

Keep your seeds, but it's either Rivea Corymbrosa, HBWR, or morning glory.

probably rivea. MG doesn't fit that seed description, and HBWR fits that description minus being too big. Rivea fits perfectly.

If you still wanna give your seeds away, give them to the next person that posts in this thread. Or give them away in the Free Ethno seed thread.

I'd say the top one is rivea for sure or an extremely close relative. The reason I say that is because I sprouted some rivea recently and they all have the horseshoe shaped cotyledens (seed leaves) and then they have heart shaped leaves from then on out. It's a vine and seems to like sun but perhaps not all day.

As was said by neuro, do not keep the soil constantly wet on any plant. The only exception to that would be something like lotus that always grows in a pond.

I would give those rivea seedlings full sun. They like a decent amount of water too. You'll notice a build up of leaves(beautiful, heartshaped and dark green) before it starts to tendril. Very easy to grow. Now if I can only get my vines to flower.

the Sinicuichi have startet to grow alot faster now. I started to give it bottom watering and let it dry more out between each watering and have put it in sunlight. They have grown at least 200% since that picture. I have some new seedlings now also , Nicotiana glauca, Nicotinia rustica and Nicotinia tabacum have all started to grow. Thorn apples have also popped up. Will update with pics soon

Wow, your heimia is doing well now! I've just moved mine outside, and it seems to have speeded up too.
I can't wait until my mutant heimia gets bigger so I can get some better pics! It has three leaves at each node instead of two .

Good growing!

yeah, i have mine in the window but only because the summer this year have been cold and rainy.

I have some troubles with my salvia cutting,. i cant upload more pics today but it is hangin down, it looks overwatered.  , i have it under a drinking glass in a pot in the window with indirect sunlight.
Q: Do salvia use long time to recover from a gel transport (the cutting is from the shroomery vendor mushmush.nl)
maybe una can answer me this: can it be that the gel is still on the roots ? will this be a problem- im pretty sure most of it got washed away but im starting to wonder

ps! the digital camera used is a free one I got for subscribing to time magazine. the quality of the photos are there after, when i get a job one day i will get a better one

failed attempts: Chicalote and Californian Poppies [Re: Mystiq_Shaman]
    #2973073 - 08/06/04 07:56 PM (13 years, 4 months ago)

Chicalote (Argemone munita)

These died off, i have one left (right pic) but this doesnt seem like a plant that yuo want to grow indoors. I will not try to do later attempt on tis plant either.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Californian Poppies (Eschscholzia californica)

06.08

These seedlings died off pretty fast. This was never a serious attempt to grow californian poppies, more a "throw some seeds in a spare pot and see what comes up" try. I will saw californian poppies outdoors next year. I knew from the start that these would probably die.
