I wasn't to sure of puttin this in this forum, or the growing, but thought this may be more appropriate. I live in shitty jersey, and it isn't the best place to pick shrooms considering we only have two species available. One of these are pan subs. i have read alot that they grown on haybales that have been left outside, and was wondering since i have lots of access to hay bales, and straw bales, that if i placed them outside now, could by the end of summer into fall i see some growth appear on them of pan subs? anytips on strategic placement would help. ALso if anyoen knows if it would be better to use a haybale vs. strawbale for this little project.
*i'm not using any spores or really trying to grow anyhting, just seeing if this could work and if nayone else has tried this*
Well, the chances are just the same of any other haybarrel producing. If spores are present, and the conditions are right, it's possible. I would stick to hunting though. You can find mushrooms but mushrooms won't find you.

Please excuse me if this boarders on threadjacking or belongs in cult, but I have a similar question. Last year I took a lot of spore prints of Big laughing gyms, scoped the spores into a pray bottle, filled with water, and then spayed down every suitable looking log around where I was staying. Has anybody had success with this or similar methods? If I had access to alot of Pan subb spores, I would spray down every hay bail I could find. I think it's worth a try.
