How to make large amounts of substrate?
    #2926200 - 07/25/04 04:35 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

My Friend is planning on making 9 jars. in truth he already started, has 4 PC'd and ready to be innoculated. When he made these jars, he made enough substrate for 2 jars. he used a mixture of 1/2 cup verm, 1/4 cup BRF, 1/4 cup water. so when he made the mixture, he did of course 1 cup verm, 1/2 cup BRF, 1/2 Water. putting the verm in first, then the BRF, and mixing in the water slowly so that it was all covered and moist. he PCed for 45 minutes at 10 PSI. still has 3 more jars to make the substrate, fill, and PC, and 2 more that just need to be PCed. this sound alright to everyone? any thing my friend should fix? he did one jar, and it was easy enough, but 9 jars is getting out of hand for him maybe haha

How to make large amounts of substrate? #1 don't use brf (clue) #2 WBS (wild bird seed) or rye or something. You can bulk up on substrate very quickly! I prefer rye over WBS although WBS is soo cheap and easy to work with It takes longer to colonize and getting moisture content right can be tricky for a newbie either way drop the brf if your talkin actually large amounts otherwise carry on. and GL
