chamber ventilation question
    #2924361 - 07/24/04 09:19 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

afoaf has a fruiting chamber with casings in it. clingwrap was used to seal off the top except for a 3 inch or so opening. this opening is covered with a clean t-shirt. will this be enough air exchange or shoudl fanning still be applied?

Even if you say the shirt is clean, throw it in the drier alone before you put it over the opening. Trust me on this, I got some green mold from what I thought was a clean shirt but it was sitting with others so my certainty of that was instantly shattered.

Whatever said here is not of my experience or knowledge. In fact, it was found off one of those prizes in a Cracker Jack box. I'm not sure what to think of this, so I've come here to share my interesting findings.

Since the co2 is heavy it will settle on the bottom of the chamber and accumulate unless you circulate the air. I dont think that a passive exhaust point located near or at the top of the chamber will sufficiently vacate the co2 build up. You will either have to put the vent near the surface of the substrate in order to allow gravity to do the work for you,or introduce something to cause air circulation like a fish tank air pump of a computer fan.

Well that is my thoughts, for what they are worth.
/Good Luck!
