Ok I did a casing of wbs.
Here is what it looked like before casing.
I then cased it and when it started breaking through the casing I started the fruiting. But there has been no pins (5 days) and it looks like this
NOTE: the off color is due to the lighting. It is nice and white in real life. Is this overlay or am I jumping the gun?

I don't know but I just put more casing material on top when that happens to me and wait. I always end up with shrooms

You could scratch, you could cold shock, or you could leave it alone. So long as you give it more air than you have been (the humidity looks fine tho), it will prbably pin in a few days nomatter...
I would give it a once over a few times with a fine mist srpayer too, but what do i know...

I fan and mist 4-5 times a day. I am not sure that I can give it more fresh air. I can and have uped the light from 30 min to 12 hours. From what I had read they did not need much light but maybe I am wrong. I think I am going to let it be and keep fanning and misting. These are Malabar, Is this a common problem with that strain?

My bud recently got a nice flush from some malabars. It was manure based, and not cased (so it looked much like yours). I say keep up what you are doing and it will pin soon... If you have been spraying the surface daily, don't anymore. Just the sides of the terrarium. I think this is the most crucial point as far as fresh air. Once every hour or two would be great, but not entirely necessary.

Five days isn't really that long to be waiting on pins. Also what did you use for casing? It looks as though the casing layer became completely colonized. As far as light goes you are right they don't need it to grow but they do need it as a pinning trigger. Increasing the lighting will probably help. Moisture evaporation is one of the biggest pinning triggers. More FAE means more evaporation meaning faster pins. However with increased FAE you have increased drop in humidity so keep an eye on it. My vote: Just keep do'n what you're do'n and wait.
