Dark syringes are for newbies! (or vendors)

Dark syringes are all hype! They are for newbies or vendors to say "Look at all of the spores!" More is not necessarily better!
In fact it is my opinion that a syringe with non- to barely- visible spores will probably outperform a dark one! Maybe not with regards to colonization time, but with every other aspect of the grow...
Think about it...

I don't remember who, but someone worded this situation, the best i've ever heard...
A dark syringe is like trying to put 20 seeds into one hole in the ground.

You heard wrong.
Actually, I think it was if your cake gets really dark it's because the spores were contaminated?
is THAT right?

Really. More spores dont harm anything. If your procedure was good in making syringes from prints then the contam rates should be low no matter how many spores you have in a syringe. The more the faster, other than that not much difference.

i always thought that "dark" colour in jars was just a dark contam, not nessecarily from "infected spores". in fact, i've only experienced dark contams at the top of only two jars, so my guess is they're an airborn contam (probably came from air holes). because only two out of twelve jars experienced that specifric colour contam, the theory of the spores being infected could'nt be true.
i also agree with the idea of dark syringes being for newbies. my pet rat bought both dark(EQ) and reg(burma) sryringes, and found them to colonize in very nearly the same time (2 or 3 day dif). that's definately not worth the extra $10-15 you pay per syrnige

Most of the time, the syringe is only dark because the spores are clumped together. Not always the case, but usually. This is caused by using a print that was made on foil rather than on paper. The foil can't absorb any moisture and the spores retain it, thus letting them stick together. So, dark syringes are not only because there are more spores. I prefer clear ones myself, although I'll manage with a dark one.

Most of the time does dark not equal more spores? Now doesn't more spores in each jar speed up the colonizing process?

It doesnt matter how dark...the spores germinate at the same rate As far as contams it depends on how sterile you made your syringes I like darker ones but i have had perfectly clear ones purchased from our sponsors that were kickass...The darker ones are usually ones we make so they are fresh and maybe they get going a bit faster... When in doubt ask Anno ....

I'm really not trying to start anything, just showing that things aren't always as they seem. Spores germinate and grow outwards from a central point (for the most part). If you increase the amount of spores (dark syringes), then in theory you can decrease colonisation times provided they are ~evenly distributed. Contamination has to do with your technique. Not dark syringes. The point which only one --edit i see at least one more-- person alluded (ten seeds in a hole analogy), is that they are all fighting for territory. Many, many different strains all fighting for the same territory. Each with slightly different hardwired growth patterns, all trying to cohabitate.

Couldn't you innoculate a whole lot more jars with a dark syringe, by just using a few drops per jar ?

you could probably make alot of syringes from one dark syringe. Other than that I think it's useless.
