that's them. Too bad they are over ripe and have gone to seed. You might be able to get some morphine from them but it looks like they are done producing for the year.

harvested the poppies, and suprisingly some of them were already dry even though they we're still rooted in the ground. I took maybe 6 dry pods and ground them up, then added boiling water and made some tea. I'm suprisingly buzzed off these pods. Some of the pods had black sap on the outside, was this opium that had leaked out?

it depends on how strong the pods are, tolorance, etc. Start low.

all pods have different potencey, it differs from pod to pod, one pod could take you just as far as 5 did last time.

I gusse that's an advantage of smoking o, because you can better titrate a dose. But eating it is more intense.

Titrate a dose? Titration is a form of measurement, but that's sort of out of context in your sentence, did you even mean to say "measure a dose," that just confused me. I presumed you meant measure by saying titration.

Errr anyway, were the seeds atleast saved from the pods before tea was made? you can easily just shake them out or drill a hole in it and pour them out, then it's best to grind up all the pods into a homogeneous powder and start with doses and work your way up. I'd say start with 5g to be on the safe side in a tea and go up from there.

titrate is an apt word in that sentence...... its a synnonym of measure anyways , correct?

Yes and no.

It is a kind of measurement, but it involves finding the concentration of solutions usually the concentration of an acid or base solution.

The shade of meaning with measurement fits, but it's out of context with what you'd normally use titration for.

When people say titrate a base solution most people mean neutralize. Once you neutralize the solution you can determine the concentration of the solution you titrated by the volume of known M acid or known M base you used.

Basically, i knew he meant measure, but in this case it's the wrong "measure".

I'm trying to think of a similar snafu with language that occurs, but i can't think of any.

I'm certain it's perfectly legit to "titrate the dosage" of drugs

eh, it looks more widespread than i thought, it certainly is accepted, but chemically it's not exactly right to say that. Suppose this is just a case where medical jargon ends up conflicting with other sciences.

In any of my training at school, i've never once heard a doctor say titrate the dose. Which was why it caught my eye. You're right though, it is acceptable, i was thinking of it from a strictly chemical standpoint. I'll retract that last post, but i'll say that i don't think it's hip to say titrate the dose, and hell i'm involved with medical jargon daily and i still haven't heard one person utter it, i just don't think it's hip.
