RADIANT!?
    #2919930 - 07/23/04 12:08 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

"Ever since the spider had befriended him, he had done his best to live up to his reputation. When Charlotte?s web said SOME PIG, Wilbur had tried hard to look like some pig. When Charlotte?s web said TERRIFIC, Wilbur had tried to look terrific. And now that the web said RADIANT, he did everything possible to make himself glow."

--E. B. White, Charlotte?s Web

Mmm...Radiant.

a VERY radiant book I read last night (yes the whole damn beautiful thing).  It is an illustrated novel, comic book style.  I would highly recommend it. Pure innocent beautiful art!

Damn, I have such a good one to add to the radiant-ness too, but I can't upload any more today!

A radiant, and pre-kennedyfied, Norma Jean Baker...

"Wilbur?s leftover food is your chief source of supply, Templeton. You know that. Wilbur?s food is your food; therefore Wilbur?s destiny and your destiny are closely linked. If Wilbur is killed and his trough stands empty day after day, you?ll grow so thin we can look right through your stomach and see objects on the other side."

One of my favorite pieces of art ever- click on it so you can see it more clearly- it's Van Gogh's Mulberry tree:

All around the mulberry bush
The monkey chased the weasel.
The monkey thought twas all in fun.
Pop! goes the weasel.

A penny for a spool of thread,
A penny for a needle.
That?s the way the money goes.
Pop! goes the weasel.

Up and down the City Road,
In and out of the Eagle,
That?s the way the money goes.
Pop! goes the weasel.

Half a pound of tuppenny rice,
Half a pound of treacle,
Mix it up and make it nice,
Pop! goes the weasel.

Jacko: King of Pop, or Unworthy Usurper of an Empty Throne?

Elvis: The King Fell Off His Throne (too many barbiturates and fried food led to death by constipation).

He was an accident waiting to happen
Most accidents happen at home
Maybe he should?ve gone out more often
Maybe he should?ve answered the phone

Hip-shakin? shoutin? in gold lame?
That?s how he earned his regal sobriquet
Then he threw it all away
For a porcelain monkey

He threw it away for a porcelain monkey
Gave it all up for a figurine
He traded it in for a night in Las Vegas
And his face on velveteen

From a shotgun shack singing Pentecostal hymns
Through the wrought iron gates to the TV room
He had a little world, it was smaller than your hand
It?s a rockabilly ride from the glitter to the gloom

Left behind by the latest trends
Eating fried chicken with his regicidal friends
That?s how the story ends
With a porcelain monkey

He threw it away for a porcelain monkey
Gave it all up for a figurine
He traded it in for a night in Las Vegas
And his face on velveteen

Hip-shakin? shoutin? in gold lame?
That?s how he earned his regal sobriquet
Then he threw it all away
For a porcelain monkey

He threw it away for a porcelain monkey
Gave it all up for a figurine
He traded it in for a night in Las Vegas
And his face on velveteen

Lyrics: "Porcelain Monkey." Warren Zevon?s jeremiad on Elvis
Sculpture: "Michael Jackson and Bubbles" by Jeff Koons

Is it easier or harder to write fiction when real life is so weird?
