Tom, anybody useing these kits can produce fruits like that. We dont do anything different then described in THE DB TEK. We use the same spores, same compost, same kit, same tek as we send customers.
Unfortunatly your grain was hit by wetspot. BTW, I know I sent you replacement spores, but I dont recall you asking me for replacement grain. Did you ever write DB about that or anything?
If not, just use some colonized birdseed to spawn that compost. You will get the same results as we do if you follow the instructions :)

although a little off subject.... Check your P.M.'s at the DD.(or E-mail)
THose are some "Jim Dandy" pics you have there.!!
That DB compost sure "seems" to be very accomidating to most shrooms, I wonder how you are doing with the Pans. (Trops. and Cyans.)
Beautifully twisted!!!

Mcman you ought to do that, that would make a good experiment and a good topic to discuss on here. give it a shot.

We do get fruits 16" and bigger. In fact I've posted a lot of them hear and they are on the website. I posted some Aussies that were 18" not to long ago. And some B+ that were 12" with 7" cap spans.
And get this... recently we seen some tasmania cubs grow 2 feet long with large caps as well. I'll post those pics sometime in the future.
And as you guys can see from the pics, they all get some big ass caps as well. They dont need to grow up all the time. Anything past 12" they just fall over anyway. They can hardly support their weight when the caps get that large when they grow that tall. They just get so big on this compost so most of the time we see them growing sideways through the mushroom forest creating their own path.
As you can see from all the pics we post they really dont need a taller box, it works great the way it is.
If we increase the box height, giving more air space, that will also reduce the humidity level some. Then ppl may be inclined to hook up humidifiers and/or stary misting it all the time.
Were trying to avoid that. And the guy who showed us this compost and all its wonders already tried the larger box idea out. We want to keep this as simple as possible for the end user.
As for running the compost in a different setup, we have. Long before we started THE DB KIT.
I think you need to spend some time cruising our website McMan, lots of pictures there of some beautiful mushrooms growing in smaller containers in an greenhouse environment. Before the THE DB KIT days :)
We even prefer THE DB KIT tek now then the large greenhouse setup :) That why you see all the recent pics like this.
Speeking of pics, I have a bunch of new ones that are just delicous :)
Speaking of your MC .. mcman, where is it? I tried looking for it on the web a couple weeks ago and the link was not valid. Did you pull the webpage or something?
Perhaps we could work out a trade for an MC for a bunch of compost... :) We both like the design a lot, and I think -Clyde- was wishing to obtain one as a sort of conversation piece.

I guess Aphex disabled the HTML in posts. You have to use the BB code.

I bought some DB and crumbled cakes that had fruited 3 times covered them with DB compost and got resultes that were very close to the pics on thehawkseye-I fried my scanner or I'd post them--does the camera add 10lbs. to you on the computer as well as t.v.?? maybe it's what makes them look so big--maybe they are smaller than we think??
just joking--I love that guy

Ryche, If I order the D.B. kit, could you send it sans spores to California? for research into medicinal mushrooms, of course
