holo: have you done this? did the silicone glue withstand multiple sterilizations in a pressure cooker? i've thought about doing this due to the excessive price of the disks and i see no reason for the disk to be the same size as the lid when a small piece from a single disk could be used to do 10 lids. I just dont want to waste the disks that I DO have if it doesn't work.

Contamination can be due to a number of things. Like I stated before: without a control group, it's impossible to make such claims and attribute the success to the filter disks.
If they are thinner than FP disks, then you could probably double up and use two instead of one, assuming they fit snugly under the jar lids.

Chill kast, I was just 'speaking in that manner' because he has th 'Nu' in his name, which is something that telemarketing firms do... like 'NuSkin' and a hundred other sales company's do . I am now using the disks on a quart jar of grain. They seem to work well...... will keep thou updated. so far so good.

Sorry, man. I dont want you to think I'm trying to bust your balls or anything, I just have a really bad habit of being extremely blunt. I usually dont "sugar-coat" what I'm saying, if you know what I mean.
Seriously, though. I think it's cool that you're providing these filters to the community and I honestly HONESTLY think it would make a world of difference. And if you've got a great hook-up for these things, then that is extremely generous of you to share it with everyone.
I do recognize the fact that you've had more people test these disks, but if those people don't use a control group either, there is still no way to tell if the results (whether BAD or GOOD) can be attributed to the use of the filter. It's just standard practice.

NuSHROOM Hey brother, I got the filters!! You are the man for helping out the community with a deal like this. I will definatly let you know how it works out and they will be compared against polyfil filters sharing the same diameter holes in the lids. There will be 12 jars, split 6 and 6. They will be quarts with birdseed/gypsum/H2O. She will get underway as soon as sporechicks comes through with the pan cyan syringe. Should not be that long and if so she'll just use some agar cultures grown out from Ralphsters FSR. Peace and thanks again........

Well, my guess would be that this persons jar probably had too much seed, too much moisture, and not enough air exchange..... i've has this happen before too ;-). Anyone else have any ideas why this would happen?
