What are these?
    #2914873 - 07/22/04 05:39 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Found in NE Ohio.
I've been researching for weeks and I can't find what these are... I've got a black spore print, greyish blue, and a burnt orange from this collection all growing on some Black Angus Manuer. The sizes range from pinky nail size to 2" diameter on the caps. If some one could help me identify I would be greatfull!

Life is but a dream...

My guess is some kind of Coprinus.

There is more than one type of mushroom in those pics.  Some are a type of coprinus and then there are both inactive pans. and a couple (at least two) pan. subbs. - one is the far right half cut out of the third pic and in the last pic the top left mushroom appears to be a subbalteatus.  Learn how to seperate your mushrooms by species first at least man.  Don't eat those coprinus- they are aged and worthless and with so many of the other mushrooms cut out of the pics it is hard to tell just what you have.  Otherwise happy shrooming- follow the guidelines next time for a better ID.  You did better ythan most people do on their fist try. :smirk:

First off, you've got a mixed collection. We need descriptions of each individual kind to be able to identify them accurately.

Having said that, I can see some random Coprinus (in the inedible, inactive category), and a couple specimens that are most certainly Panaeolus campanulatus (which should also be treated as inedible and inactive). Beyond that, there is a good chance that your "burnt orange" spore print mushrooms are Conocybes, in which case you should treat them as poisonous. Another possibility is Bolbitius, which I wouldn't eat either.

Again, if you want accurate IDs, you need to provide detailed descriptions, one at a time, for each species you want identified.

Happy mushrooming!
