This country is way too funny:
http://www.gfn.com/news/story.phtml?sid=15931
"If they don't have the guts to come up here in front of you and say, 'I don't want to represent you, I want to represent those special interests, the unions, the trial lawyers' if they don't have the guts, I call them girlie men," Schwarzenegger said to a crowd at a mall food court in Ontario, Calif.
Democrats quickly called Schwarzenegger's remarks insulting to women and gays and distracted from budget negotiations. ...

I like how each side can call each other ambiguously inflamatory remarks but when someone just comes out and tells it like they believe it to be this "pussy" of a society gets it's panties in a bunch. People call one side Facist murderers and the other calls them commies and worse but call someone a girlie man and they all blow up.

If I was a girlie man I would be pissed at being compared to a bunch of sell-out, ethically corrupt politicians.

LOL I thought this was hilarious. The funniest part is the Democrats whining and complaining about it, making the girlie-men comment even more true.

California Steamin': The Governator vs. the Girlie Men
12:10 AM CDT on Tuesday, July 20, 2004
You gotta love those Californians. What they lack in common sense, good taste and sound judgment in presidential politics, they make up for in sheer entertainment value.
Take the current ruckus over what apparently seems to be, in the Golden State, new fighting words: girlie men.
Believe it or not, that's what Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger called Democratic lawmakers in Sacramento. Gov. Schwarzenegger lifted the lighthearted insult from an old Saturday Night Live skit in which a pair of Teutonic weightlifters ? dubbed Hans and Franz ? used it to mock anyone they found lacking in the muscle department.
The governor, upset at Democrats for holding up the budget process, was taking a poke at lawmakers who, in his words, "don't have the guts" to tell their constituents that they really represent special interests like unions and trial lawyers.
And, as if to confirm the jibe, the Democrats are throwing a hissy fit over the comments. Unamused party leaders wasted no time in terming the remark "sexist" and "homophobic," and demanding an apology.
Here we go again. It's no wonder that the far left has become a caricature to so much of this country. These people need to get over it. Gov. Schwarzenegger's comments might not be your cup of tea, but they certainly aren't an attack on an entire segment of society. At most, they were harmless attempts at humor.
The humorlessness of these crybaby Californians is really funny. Do folks like outraged State Assembly Speaker Adrian Nunez, who called the comment "beneath" the governor, have any idea how silly they look?
Earth to Collyvornia: You elected a former bodybuilder and movie-star action hero with a history of treating women the way most people treat fruit in the supermarket. What exactly did you think you were going to get?
In fact, an overwhelming majority of the California electorate seems to consider the GOP Governator refreshing and unpredictable, the quintessential "unpolitician" ? a lively contrast to his predecessor, the grim progressive Gray Davis. You wonder if the California Democrats can remember a time when Republicans were the party of stuffed shirts, not the other way around.

Here's another: http://www.opinionjournal.com/best/?id=110005372
We never much cared for those "Pumping Up With Hans and Franz" skits on "Saturday Night Live," in which Dana Carvey and Kevin Nealon played a pair of boastful but simple-minded bodybuilders with Germanic accents. But we're having second thoughts now that California's Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, borrowing a line from "Pumping Up," has called Democratic legislators who refuse to go along with spending cuts "girlie men."
OK, so Schwarzenegger's comment wasn't terribly witty--but the reaction from self-serious Dems has us laughing out loud. From the Associated Press:
State Sen. Sheila Kuehl said the governor had resorted to "blatant homophobia."
"It uses an image that is associated with gay men in an insulting way, and it was supposed to be an insult. That's very troubling that he would use such a homophobic way of trying to put down legislative leadership," said Kuehl, one of five members of the Legislature's five-member Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Caucus.?.?.?.
Assemblyman Mark Leno, a San Francisco Democrat who is chairman of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Caucus, said he was glad Schwarzenegger didn't repeat the "girlie men" remark Sunday, saying it was "as misogynist as it is anti-gay."
"To disparage a group of law abiding tax paying citizens is just wrong," Leno said.
Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, a Democrat, said that while he wasn't upset by the remark, his 13-year-old daughter was.
"She's a young girl who knows the governor and really likes him a lot and didn't find the term to be a positive term, and finds it to be derogatory," Nunez said. "It was no question a very, very insensitive comment to make. I personally am not intimidated or threatened by it, but I think it really is beneath Gov. Schwarzenegger."
An earlier version of the AP dispatch also includes this quote from Kuehl: "It's ironic that the governor would try to find a metaphor for weakness when his real problem is that we're being too strong."
Boy, where to begin? Well, for one thing, Kuehl seems to think that what makes a legislator "strong" is his inability to resist the temptation to spend every last taxpayer dollar. Nunez's implicit claim not to be a "girlie man" is undercut by his hiding behind the skirts of a 13-year-old girl while claiming he is "not intimidated."
****************************************************************
Yet another example of the defective Libbie humor gene. And Nunez is a prime example of one unable to recognize blatant, in-your-face, screaming irony.

I may be wrong about this, but I don't think this is the first time the Governator has used that term to describe the Democrats. He needs some new material.

Judging by the reaction from those "girlie men", I'd say there's still quite a bit of life left in it.
Methinks they doth protest way too fucking much.
