Controlled Humidity and Temperature During Colonization
    #2911125 - 07/21/04 03:24 AM (12 years, 4 months ago)

I have read how humidity and tempurature are important for the purposes of the rate of growth and maximizing potency during the fruiting phase of growing shrooms. I am wondering if it is also important to control these variables during the colonization phase. I have not been able to find any information concerning this. If anyone has any input into this, that would be great. Thanks and ciao for now.

Sean

humidity I don't think is too important. keep the holes taped so you dont lose moisture, that's about it.

temp: keep it around 85 degrees (I believe that is right. 86 is "ideal", I've read. But I heard room temp is fine..) in a dark place. If you let it see light too much, pins will form on the glass..I don't really see what's so horrible about it, but expert shroomers say that = bad. Let's, you and I, take their word for it :P

I speak of knowledge learned from reading, not from experience.

Actually for the fruiting process it is very important. Temp should be aroun 75 degrees. mid 80's is ideal for growing the myc.

Humidity during the fruiting process shoul be in the mid to high 90's (percentage). During the myc phase, it's not that big an issue if you have prepared your substrate well.

Take the tape off your holes so your jars can breathe. The tape is only to keep the extra water out when PC`n. Correct me if im wrong..
