i think i found some pan subbs
    #2909990 - 07/20/04 07:55 PM (19 years, 8 months ago)

I was looking in my yard today and i found what I think are pan subbs, although they seem a little smaller. The coloring on the cap is pretty much the same with the ring around the edge of the cap. I took a spore print today and the print was black. The size was about the same except the stem seemed a little skinny. Sorry i dont have a pic. Btw i live in eastern washington, in yakima (incase anyone knows where that is). I know that active mushrooms dont really grow in eastern washington, but I'm pretty sure they are pans. Any opinions?

Probably Panolina foenisecii. Skinny stem and growing in a lawn makes me think they're not active.

I think you are right about them being panaeolina foenisecii. Those look more like them compared to subbs.

haha nice, I'm from one of the little towns near there, just drove through yakima today on the way to seattle .

I have never seen pan subbs around that area, though I haven't checked out any compost piles or stables, probably too hot for them.  foens are pretty common in the lawns there and are probably what you found, like Gumby said.

he said "yard" not "lawn"
also i see no reason to beleive he did not find psathyrella velutina or some type of wood-loving musroom that often grows over dead root systems. some of which are known to have black sporeprints.

a trait which panaeolina foenisecci, i might add, does NOT have
