Hi all,
After taking a short 25ish year hiatus, the unexpected gift of a mushroom cultivation book for Xmas has me excited to cultivate mushrooms again!  Back in the late 90s I had different motives, but my interests lie more in the area of culinary mushrooms now. 

It's been great reading the overwhelming amount if info and different points of view on Shroomery.  The jargon and acronyms have felt a bit like learning a foreign language, but I'm humbled by all of the knowledge and intellectual curiosity on display here.  What an amazing resource!

So what's with my subject line anyway?  Beyond being a reference to a mediocre and forgettable Journey song, reading through the forums has put me on a nostalgia trip.  Seeing all the jars and tubs has brought up lots of memories of my first foray into mushroom cultivation. 

Back in the late 90s I sent actual cash in the mail to Psilocybe Fanaticus and received back a spore syringe. I think I remember that syringe being only $10.  Such a cheap ticket for a truly amazing ride!

I don't think it was PF's protocol that I first used; I seem to recall printing out something on my work printer called the Magic Mushroom Grower's Guide (does that ring a bell for anyone?).  A hacked room humidifier, a case of half-pint jars, and a modified plastic tote later and I was off and running.  That syringe led to many transformative experiences with friends, but I also found so much pleasure in the process of growing those mushrooms. 

So are there any other satisfied Psilocybe Fanaticus customers on here?

And I seem to recall that the strain I ordered from him was some sort of high potency Amazonian strain, any idea what that would have been?  I see references to PF Classic on here, could that be it?  I even dug through my old junk in the garage to see if I might still have an old spore print labeled with its name, but no dice.  I handed down all my supplies to a younger friend when I decided to lean more into adulting, so I'm sure I gave that to him too.

My first syringe was from Psilocybe Fanaticus and first guide was also the magic mushroom growers guide!

Right on, JBG!  When did you get that first syringe?  I'm pretty sure mine would have been in December 1997.  My then girlfriend had a Jan birthday, and I put together a growing system for her as a gift. Kinda lame in retrospect because I ended up being the one to use it, but she did have a ready supply of fungus at least.
