I was wondering if any of you cultivators have kids? I have a 5 year old boy and i was wondering if you guys openly discussed growing mushrooms with your kids or if you try to hide it from them? I find it hard to hide what im doing from my son so i told him i was trying to grow portabella mushrooms. Ofcourse my wife is against anything i do so im not even going to touch that subject

depends on how old the kid is. anything less than 18 and they might not be able to handle it i.e. they might think it is wrong or blab their mouths off. i don't think it is a good idea to discuss growing mushrooms with anybody unless you live where they are legal to grow.

I've a nine year old daughter who knows daddy has some weird fancination with shrooms so much so she draws me pics with shrooms on them, comes running up to me in shops with shroom ornaments ect ect. I've a pc\spare room with over 30 glass and ornamental shrooms, paintings and all sorts so she knows daddy loves shooms and not prostitutes, beer or any other vice that will wreck our family life, thats my justification. I dont do my jars, glovebox, ect in front of her, i keep all my spores ect all locked away. My growtank sits on the windows ledge in toilet in my own bedroom, she knows it's there but shows no interest in it. Keep you drying and all other operations out of site, what about a spare cuboard? fit a light ect build up a stash then grow every so often to rebuild your stash. Someone suggested to me buying some edible type shrroms, let her see them grow and maybe she'll get bored and never bother me again, i never tried it but maybe i will.
The building up a stash is best for me.
never let them see a syringe, thats got to be NO 1 on your list

Sortof along the same lines of thought, I know of someone who takes their 10 year old daughter with them when they shroom hunt. She'll find a big cluster of huge cubes and come running up to give them to her daddy. All she knows is that daddy likes to collect them and she has been told not to eat them. When ever I go hunting with this guy I feel weird about have a kid with us. I imagine that getting caught and having a small child with us would be very damning. We don't have to tresspass to hunt and that makes me feel a little better though.

IF i were living away from this society, i would teach my kids all about the sacred mushroom....
But in this society there are people that dont want this, and will give their lives to stop it.
peace and love
just be carefull.

I totally disagree about introducing my children to mushrooms.... You must understand that not all people are meant to experience psychadelics as we do. If they discover this fruit out for themselves then I will certainly guide them in understanding the experience and safely using but in no way shape or form will I Never say "try this hun." or... "You want to have some fun, get your hands on some shrooms." We here at the shroomery are psychonauts and the affect shrooms have on our minds-bodies-soul etc has been beneficial which is why we are all probably here fascinated with them.... but adverse reactions in ones who are not meant to tingle with this powerful drug are a very real possibility. Lets just remember that society is a totally differnt world that the community we have here and even though my children may come from me, they are NOT me.

If I were growing around kids, I would grow edibles as well, and tell them NOT to eat the trippy ones, because they are not edible, just an experiment, but that we can eat the "food" ones.
I do take my kids mushroom hunting all the time- they LOVE it! What is wrong with taking kids hunting? Kids adore that stuff. We find edibles, and non-edibles and try to identify them all. My 5 year old is the same as Scotsman's daughter, always getting excited when she sees mushrooms. Like her mama!

Awwwwwww, you are sweet! Yes, we do a lot of frolicking, gasping, cooing and exclaiming over the sweet little things! It is the best thing to do with kids, they appreciate the magic! And we look for fairies and gnomes too, at the same time.

I really can't wait to have kids...I'm way too young to even want them right now, but I am a sad sappy sucker when it comes to babies...and puppies, for that matter. God. I'm such a girl.

The main problem is the fact that its illegal. Little kids tend to open their mouths about things...
And I know I never wanna see my kid eating shrooms...
