Ok Im going do a couple of casing, with straight verm, 1/2 inch bottom layer. 1/4 case layer to substrate. top layer will be 100% verm. Im to lazy to get the coco coir, is there really any need for coco coir!?  What are the benefits? :clown:

I use coir...id wouldnt say there is a need.  Coir, i think, holds more water....but then what would be the purpose of adding Verm like many people do (i use coir/verm cause thats what i learned here, never tried anything else )  maybe the verm keeps the coir from getting packed and air tight?

Just verm should be fine

I found that coir has a good PH level, and holds water very well. Also, its good in that when the casing layer starts to dry out, the color of the coir makes it obvious so you know when spraying is necessary.
