It's because sometimes the show writers put in a callback to an earlier episode.
Original mutant that started the x7x+ spore line was grown out of a clone of this cat penis plin from a plate that was forgotten about for a couple months:

They were at 18-19 psi (at ~5000 ft, so maybe 17 psi equivalent at sea level?) for 45 minutes. They've been through at least one, and likely two cycles before this.

Can't see the top dish, but I have little doubt it's intact.
This doesn't say anything about the specific dishes you got, of course. But the 60 mm ones have been great in my experience - no warped dishes or lids yet, and I've cycled 200+ of them, most multiple times. I hope they eventually work out for you (or that you can get your money back if not).
I went back in the Amazon reviews and the two that are there saying the same thing I am are both 90 mm and both in the same timeframe that I purchased mine. I think it was the batch. It would make sense since this hasnโt been brought up before. I appreciate the input. Iโll keep yโall posted what vabiooth has to say if they say anything at all. I mean, im gonna use the damn things.. I bought a 100 of them lol. The 90โs are kinda big for my needs anyway. Probably get the 60โs next time which Iโm sure wonโt be for a while if not even next season

Received this from vabiooth..

Seems itโs been happening to others as well so beware if you got the 90mm recently.. some of them might melt

I told them I wasnโt seeking a refund but I do want the ones that melt replaced. I donโt want possibly contribute to the only autoclavable plastic petris going away lol
I asked if I could contact them at a later date when/if I have a decent amount that melted, getting those replaced with 60mm all at once. Also asked to keep me informed with what their investigation finds. I think there was just a mistake made somewhere with a batch. They asked about the packaging because they also produce non-autoclavable petris but based on the video on Amazon, itโs a pretty automated system so who knows. Iโll keep ppl posted

Glad to see that they seem to be responsive. I have run the 60 and 90 mm many cycles without any troubles. Vabiooth sells both Autoclavable and disposable petri dishes in the 90mm size. I wonder if some got mixed up somewhere along the way.
I don't think they are intentionally scamming since I have literally hundreds of plates that have gone though many cycles without any warping. But clearly someone messed up somewhere with those.
Hope they get you sorted out.

Oh yeah, donโt think anyone is cramming anyone and theyโre being super cool. I do think it was one of the 10 packs I initially bought and not the 100 as the box clearly says itโs the autoclavable kind. The second 10 pack I got came like weeks before it was suppose to because they were out.. it just showed up and I thought oh cool and didnโt pay much attention to the packaging because it looked like the first one. I also only got one 10 pack when that order was suppose to be 30.. I cancelled the other 20 and said fuck it and ordered a 100 box lol. So in hindsight, thatโs suspicious.
It was probably on amazons end Iโm assuming

Just to put everyoneโs mind at ease that may be worried, after thinking about the steps of what happened, Iโve come to the conclusion that the second 10 pack of plates I ordered werenโt actually vabiooths autoclavable dishes. I inspected the first box I received because it was a new product to me and checked everything out. After using them, I quickly figured out 10 dishes isnโt going to be nearly enough so I ordered 30 more
Well on the day they were to be delivered, I got a notification that it was going to be pushed out 2 weeks.. then a few days later, a single 10 pack showed up without notice. I thought โcoolโ and not โweirdโ which is what I think now in hindsight.. well I cancelled the other 20 and ordered the 100 box.
I didnโt look at the box printing at all since it looked just like the first box essentially (just a brown box) and used the plates and threw away the box. Odds are that someone Amazon mixed up the non autoclavable type when they ran out of the autoclave ones. So if your box had/has the company printing on them that says itโs autoclavable, youโre fine.
Sorry about the scare
I pcโd 5 more and one of them melted so that brings it up to 6 Iโm expecting to find 4 more at some point

Is fluffy agar a sign of bacteria or other contamination?

All seem to be from my Nat plates. Just trying to figure if I should do more transfers.

Was going to ask if those were nats until I got to the bottom of the post. Nats just kind of do that. They can be fluffy and aerial on agar. Still might want to take 1 more transfer though. Maybe lower your nutes in next batch if not already at 1.5%

Will do! The plates should be around 1%. Thanks for taking the time to reply

Hello all, I need to up my posts so I will share some plates I have been working with lately. Does anyone her have any success with this kind of trenching method? I think it would be helpful for explicitly bacterial cultures but mold and myc mixed together I am not so sure.
Here is a Yeti plate that has what I believe to be a mold colony at 6 oclock but promising transferable edges most everywhere else.

Here is what I am talking about highlighted.

Here is a rusty whyte culture that I trenched. Originally I had trenched it because the germ plate and T1 looked rough, now that it has grown out I wonder If it did it any good. Looking up at the top of the plate It looks like a clean transferable edge, very comparable to the myc that crossed the trench.

Anyway, do any of you use this method, or is the sandwich method more popular for dirty cultures.

If mold is enmeshed, the plate is probably fucked. I'd transfer from furthest away from the weird growth on the chance it's really localized.
The best method for cleaning up bacterial cultures in my humble opinion is the BRF puck.
Edit to add that what you observed with that RW plate is how most of my trench experiments have gone. Probably because the culture wasn't bacterial to begin with but was growing weird during recovery.

the way the leading edge at 9 o'clock looks...Is that what im looking for around the entire circle? Should it be taking off like like evenly around entire edge? Just keep taking samples of those leading edges until I have even leading edges?? Can I take just a piece of that 9 o'clock leading edge and make LC out of it? Looks like very clean sample?
thanks
