question about slow growth
    #2906977 - 07/20/04 01:04 AM (12 years, 4 months ago)

so there are these pins growing on this big chunk of colonized wood-based grains which was birthed out of a mycobag. they are a/the mexican strain of cubensis, if that helps. they have been there for about a week, and several of them now have what appears to be deep blue bruising on the stipes. would this be caused by misting with regular tap water, rather than purified water?

they should be getting decent air exchange (air is pumped in via a small aquarium air pump with 2 hoses going into fruiting chamber) and the humidity seems high considering there's moisture all over the side of the chamber.

i have no idea what to do for them.. they're being covered over by fluffy mycelium, too..

hellllp!

I dont know the specifications for the strain but you may need to initate pinning which would mean lowering the air exchange etc.

correction: there are pins, primordia, and straight-up fruits growing.. but they're either not showing any progress, stalled, or just plain finished growing altogether.. it's a bit odd, though.. a few of them are doing OK.

wish i had a damn camera..

Is that right? Lowering the air exchange will initiate pinning? Would doing that hurt at all?

" Lowering the air exchange will initiate pinning"
no!!
give them as much air exchange as you can without dropping humidity.
