There are few groups more smug, self-righteous, and downright dangerous to human existence than professional environmentalists. Though RAN believes they won a major "victory" over the "profit-obsessed" banks in the following case, those depending on those banks loans to better their existence are far from victorious.

A little off topic, but this reminds me of the tragic case of widespread famine in Zambia and Zimbabwe in 2002. Large amounts of corn were sent to aid the starving, but the corn was rejected as "poison" because some of the kernels were genetically engineered.

What you arent taking into consideration is that in the future as the price of oil increases, trying to meet a third world countries energy needs through fossil fuels will become prohibitively expensive. In fact it has already got to that point. "When OPEC imposed the oil embargo back in the seventies, the price of oil shot up from $3 to $12 a barrel. And since then it's never gone down. So, for thirty years, third world countries have been desperately borrowing money from the IMF, the World Bank, and other lending institutions to try to pay for oil they can't afford in order to modernize their economies. So now, 83 cents out of every dollar borrowed in the third world is being used to pay off bad debts?and they're not even getting the oil. These countries are now spending more money to pay back past loans than they are spending on basic human services." link
So perhaps it does actually make some sense to be looking to renewable energy sources now rather than later.

And we can all see what effect "depending on bank loans" has had on Africa. Paying back colossal debts and falling furthur and furthur into starvation and poverty.
More bank loans - that's the answer..
