Acid Myth... True or False?

I asked a friend of mine if he could get ahold of some acid. He then proceeded to tell me a story about a guy who had a bad trip on acid were he thought he was a glass of orange juice. Turns out this guy ended up permenatley frying his head and is in a mental institution because he still thinks he is this glass of orange juice, so he can't move for fear of tipping over or something. I know this seems a bit unbelieveable, but has anyone heard this or know if it's even possible? Or perhaps know of a similar incident?

that guy fell over in 2001, he thought he spilled and sadly he passed away
heh, this is mentioned by a lot of people all over these forums, it's a myth, 95% of people our age (i'd assume you're like 18-24) have herad it from someone...

Ive heard of it from alot of dirrent people in different places but I don't see it as being true. There were people of the beat generation that did multitudes more acid then anyone should do and ended up fine. Maybe a little off..but anyways...

Version I heard was the guy had to take a shower to "Fill up his cup."

I've heard so many weird stories that cannot be verified.....running away from Mickey Mouse while tripping because Mickey had a butcher knife and the guy jumped out of a 10-story window, blah blah blah.

Oldest one in the book. It has all the earmarks of an urban legened.
1. Everyone claims it's a foaf's uncle/sister/father/cousin/etc.
2. Everyone around the country or perhaps world knows the story, and almost always there are variations among the story.
3. When asked for more information like names places dates etc, the teller is ofen unable to provide them, seems confused, and changes the subject.
I too have heard this story, although i've heard it as the glass of OJ is poor old Syd Barret. He is in reality alive and well(as well as he can be i suppose) living in cambridge, where he spends his days painting and going on walks. Not locked away with spillphobia.
I've got a few friends where urban legends seem to make up 95% of there belief system. It can be a bit frustrating cause when i call them on it, they get frazzeled and angry at me.
Things like the whole KFC chicken thing, Rat poop in peanut butter, each hit of acid is a manslaughter charge or something. I heard these all from one person who swore her life practically that they were true.

Here's a good acid myth, supposedly coming from the Reader's Digest sometime in the 60s.... woman drops acid at Thanksgiving, and she accidently puts her baby in the oven instead of the turkey!

That's not a myth! I am now a cup of coffee b/c of LSD!! I have a friend that's a wallnut, and another one that has turned into a peyote cactus... Also because of LSD.
I live in permanent fear that someone drinks my insides. Please don't touch that weird acid stuff...

now I'm possitive that story is bullshit. I heard exactly the same version of that 6 years ago, and I've heard it several times since then. however, I'm curious as to how far away that stories been told, I live in new jersey, but its probably been told all around the country. dosent really matter much though, I cant find any acid.

Yeah, don't touch that 'weird acid stuff'.
Eat that friend of yours instead.

My dad had a friend in the 60s who took to much STP. The guy cut a hole in his pants cause he said he was growing a tail and needed room. After about a couple days he was fine though.
My dad had another friend who ate some Devils Trumpet (datura) Ended up crawling underneath a car wouldnt come out because aliens were trying to kill him. Finally had to end up and take em to the hospital and wait out his trip.
Moral of the story dont take Datura.

i agree that most of the myths are false but can you blame people? i find it very realistic that someone can think that they are a glass of orange juice WHILE on acid, just not really when they are off of it. the people that think they are still a glass of orange juice were probably originally psychotic or had underlining psychotic issues and should not have taken acid in the first place.
oh by the way, myths are always false no matter what.
