2 liter soda bottles PC-able?
    #2896520 - 07/16/04 12:02 PM (13 years, 10 months ago)

Has anybody tried pressure cooking 2 liter soda bottles? Do they survive the heat, or melt into a glob of goo that is a pain to clean out of the PC? Thinking they might make a good, free, mycelial growth jar replacement. Tyvek over the lid hole, and just cut open when ready to birth. anybody done it?

they melt, try microwavewrbal containers, cheap and easy to find, they
hold up well.

The key i find to pcing plastics, is steady build up of heat, then a steady cooling, seems to cause less melting of the origanal shape.

Most plastics that have a number 5 in a triangle can be PCd

A large number of plastics that are HDPE can be PCed as well. Theres quite a range though, so its best to do a small test first.
