Tiny pins?
    #2895458 - 07/16/04 01:11 AM (12 years, 4 months ago)

I was looking very closely at my casings this evening.. and after staring at it for a good minute, I noticed there are TINY pins starting to sprout up here and there. And I mean REALLY tiny. The 'caps' of these are.. well.. the size of pinheads, maybe a little bigger. Do all pins start out this way, or am I doing something wrong? This is my first grow so I don't really know what to expect, and I don't want to fuck up now. o.O Thanks y'all.

sounds like pins forming to me. usually you will notice little white hyphenal knots that form into the tiny pins

Thanks jba!
It's just that the colonized portion of my casing is very rhizomorphic, so it's difficult to pick out any knot-like formations from the chaos in there. Also, the would-be caps are already starting to darken a little bit, which I was under the impression shouldn't be happening yet.

Doesn't sound like this is good. Try fanning a bit more, are you spraying your casing? I don't reccomend it, especially if the casing is beginning to pin, the little babies don't like water. What are you using for humidification?

Using perlite under the casing trays. And yes, I was misting the casing directly because I didn't see the little buggers there until just now, and also the coir was starting to lighten up a bit and I didn't want the myc to die. Seems pretty moist in there now, though. I've been fanning 4+ times a day. Should I crack the lid and let it dry out a bit in there?
