Wisely so? Why? Because you said so? Gee, then it must be true!
No, not because I say so. Because pure democracy is merely mob rule. "hey! Let's vote to kill psyka." You need balance.
-------------------- You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

So we do need someone "who can do it better than us" to "do it for us" in the veil of lies and self-interest.
Did I say anything like that? Putting words in my mouth, common tactic on this board of late. I want INDIVIDUALS to make decisions for themselves. The role of government should be extremely narrow and limited, securing the natural rights of it's citizens and a few ancillary functions.

We are not ready to take power of "our government."
Have we regressed as a species or race of people over this past century? I want the liberty that prevailed over this country from 1789-1860. We were capable of handling it then and we are capable of handling it now. It appears YOU have no faith in the human race.

Replacing congress's role with 250 million people... I think its more than feasible.
That is slightly, though not much, better than the initial suggestion. Replacing the legislative branch with Athenian-esque Plebescites via the internet. Still though, we should work towards getting power out of government, not reallocating how power is distributed in government. 'Government is not reason, it is not eloquence; It is force! Like fire it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.'

By the way this isnt limited to just the internet. With todays technology we could set up little fuckin gameboys to link up to a central database to do it
The opportunities for voter fraud would be just about unlimited.

Who'se only purpose is to increase profits - no matter how destructive to the survival of life on earth that may be.
You know already that Libertarians DEMAND government step in when corporations or 'capitalists' initiate force. That is its roll. What I hope you also understand, is that people seeking profits is what raises the standard of living for everyone in a nation. Do you grasp this basic economic principle?

The problem with a true democracy as such is the majority then becomes the tyrants. Freedom isn't about having the majority choose, it's about having the individual choose. What right is it of the majority to tell me that I can't smoke marijuana and eat shrooms if it harms no one else? What right of the majority is it to tell gays they can't marry if it hurts no one else?
