no there only formatted to use MP3s and other musical type things, you can also burn pictures on CD RW but for DVDs you have to use DVD RWs get them at staples or any stores like that idk maybe best buy might have them

Im sure i saw a program advertised once which said it allows you to use a standard CD-RW to burn DVD's,not sure if it had any truth behind it though, you think there could be or is any programs out there which allow you to do that?

Impossible, simply due to size issues. A DVD version of a film would never fit on a CD-RW unless it was compressed/converted to lose quality.

wait, isnt it possible to burn .avi to a VCD (video CD) which can be played in a dvd player? I believe this can be done, but I've never done it myself.

www.afterdawn.com - ask them they have the answers (im pretty sure its possible if you have the right apps - i.e. Nero 6 Ultra Edition)

VCD's have the similar quality as a VHS. A cd-r has 650mb compared to a dvd which has 4.7gb and could have dual sides. There may be conflicts with your dvd player. They will work in your computer or if your dvd player supports vcds which most new ones do however mine does not =(. Minidvds are cds that have 15minutes of dvd quality video and have a worse chance of having a player that plays them. There is alot to movie disk writing www.vcdhelp.com will help alot.

Not impossible, but a pain in the ass.

If dvd you downloaded is in vob files you can covert them to mpeg1 or 2(svcd) and put them on a disk. You also have to trim them down cuz only about 40 min fits on an svcd.

http://dvdrhelp.com can show you how to do it, but its not the most straightforward.

ohh just remembered. guy was telling me about the discs tehy use to program dvd players. you could always find (i dont know where would have them, they are illegal) the ones for your dvd player and turn it into the high end "panasonic" or whatever. Get something like that that plays avi and such and your set.

actually, i do it all the time. I had to download both a converter and a video splitter to make it work though. Cd-RW's have a very minimum amount of space, so with most movies, you have to split it in halves, and sometimes thirds, but almost all DVD players will play them. A PS2 wont though, just in case you were wondering.
