How Do These Plates Look? * 2
    #28936048 - 09/04/24 07:27 PM (6 days, 14 hours ago)

So after a bit of recent humbling, I got serious and came up with these plates you can see here. I'm pretty sure I have the correct organism this time. You can be the judge...

well i don't know a whole lot, but those look like mycelium and not any sort of contamination.  Great work!  What was your recipe if you don't mind my asking.

The agar recipe? It is a 4% nutes for the MYC to recover it's rizo looking shape. These came off of water agar donor plates which made them look thin and weak.

500ml water
10g agar
20g LME
20 drops red food coloring

Getting on top of the germ & donor plates quickly and careful selection of transfers helped me out tremendously.
This is Machine Elf.

Really nice looking plates, congrats! I would not have thought 4% malt extract would have given rhizomorphic growth (I use 1.5-2% and see lots of people going as low as 0.5% to encourage crazy ropey looks). But it's definitely worked out here. :mushroom2:

Send it!

1, 3 and 4 are suspicious.

Aside from the bacteria on #3, the plates I mentioned have an added layer of mycelium that I wouldn't trust.

Yes 100%, very good looking uniform plates otherwise.
