Funny cop story

An officer showed up at an apartment I was hanging out in to ask another resident some questions.
It's 10 A.M. and I was working nights so it's my "evening" and I'm pretty drunk by 10 A.M.(P.M.).
The officer takes a look at me and considers my shirtless state and current condition...I look like every second redneck on cops because of the long hair too.
He says."Excuse me sir,what's your name?"
I look up and say"Are you asking me my name or  telling Me to tell you my name?"
"Well I'm just asking I guess."He says.
I smile a big shit eating grin and say
"Well then I'd rather  NOT  thank-you very much!"
I laughed,cracked another beer and toasted him!
He was NOT happy!
But he couldn't do anything about it so it was funny as hell!
"I'll remember you!...You look familiar." he says
I can just imagine him looking thru the mug shot and wanted books for the rest of the day trying to find my non-existent mugshot!
This isn't off topic cause the last time I happened to tell this story I was in a pub!

the supreme court recently ruled that you have to
provide your information when an officer of the law
requests it.

guess you're lucky your officer wasn't up on his
supreme court ruling.

either way, there's better times to pick fights with
cops than when you're drunk and shirtless at 10am
and not otherwise in any trouble.

way to go!

I recently ruled against the supreme court saying that my freedom as an American citizen states I don't have to talk to who I don't want to, nor do I have to say anything to a police officer without a lawyer present... even with a lawyer present I don't have to if I don't wish to.

"Anything you say can and will be used against you."

Anyway, atleast that cop just took your reply like he should have if we were to live in a free country, rather than being an asshole like AFOAF said he could have.

You did your part as a citizen and stood up for your rights. Everyone should do this.

one of my friends refused to give a cop his name (he was only 16 at the time).. they started getting very agitated at him and 'assumed' he was 18, hit him, and put him in a county jail for the night, where he spit blood all over the cops and acted insane in his holding cell.

i dont know what the point of that was... i guess just that giving your name can save you some trouble in certain situations :shrug:
