If you are trying to fruit inside the actual bag environment (ie not placing it into a larger chamber), then you will want to cut it open at the very top and fan in fresh air that way. You don't really need to do it 3 times a day (because the filter patch allows for passive exchange in between fannings), but doing it once a day is a good way to speed up the fruiting inside your bag. Just make sure it stays moist and mist if needed to bring up moisture. Keep the bag closed between fannings by using some sort of clip or "chip saver" device.

No its not. This is from Stamets, and believe me no two people here know what he does.

Hehe, sure, multiple fannings and 1-3 fresh air exhanges PER HOUR is a great idea. However our testing has shown what will work, and these will work with far less fresh air than is listed in Stamet's manuals. I'm not disputing his claimes, they are solid, but sometimes you can get by with less, especially with something designed for in-vitro fruiting like the MycoBag(TM) series of products. The filter patch allows for constant passive fresh air exchange (maybe not a full 1-3 exchanges per hour), but fanning the interior removes and stalled or stale air. These things work without ever opening them up, it can just take a little longer.
