23 days and only 50%

Hello, I injected 3 jars a little more than 3 weeks ago. I have accepted that one of the jars is dead (hot needle killed spores), and i am now getting worried about the other 2. One of them is at about 50% and the other around 30-40% colonized with mycelium. The temperature is about 74-78F. I know this is a little low, any way i can wrap them in something to get them warmer? And is it normal for them to grow this slowly? Thanks.

An incubator helps a lot, but lesson learned I guess. First, give it a whiff and check for contams; maybe too much moisture that could be hindering it as well. wait another two weeks at those temps, try flipping the jars or untighten to release CO2 and get some fresh air in there.

Your temp is way off. Sounds like you have your jars at room temperature, if that is so then slow colonization is inevitable. The temps in the 80's not exceeding 86 is a MUST!!

It should be between 80-85 degrees for best results for colonization. Make sure your cakes can breath a lil too man, peel the tape back and let em' breath. Try placing them in a darker place too. These should all help it out.

I agree with them as well... it should at least be 84 degrees to 86 degrees tops.  (if you get an incubator, which i highly recommend because they will grow MUCH faster, set the temperature to 84 degrees because the jars tend to raise the temperature by about 2 degrees themselves.

but yeah, i did the whole room temperature thing too.  thats a good temp for fruiting IMO, but definately not for colonization.... make an incubator

Yeah they are at room temp in a very dark place. Is there any other way to heat them other than an incubator?
