Bill O'Reily, what simple minded partisan. Al Franken and Micheal Moore on the other hand...free thinkers.

And so is Moore trying to convince his audience he is a patriotic everyman proleterian when his views are not moderate either. Face it, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh are just the same as Paul Krugman and the Air America crowd. Ted Rall is like the left's Mike Savage, except worse. You can't criticize O'Reilly for being one-sided and partisan and then embrace his left-wing counterparts.

I never said I agree with him, I dont want to be slammed into hating or loving every aspect of him, like many of you hate Bush no matter what he does. If I were to 'agree' with O'Reilly, that means I would have to side with him on every topic, which I do not.
O'Reilly does not hide himself, you know what he thinks and will agree with it or not. He brings contraversial topics and gives his opinion, and if somebody else does not agree, he has a very heated debate. Im sure if he could have much more time per topic, he would be able to get a more robust debate. However he has to stick to the questions he wants answered, not allowing many debates to go other directions.
Im glad to see you guys dont have a collective debate anymore on any topic. If only the shroomery attracted other persons as well, this would be a much better debate on why O'Reilly is liked/disliked. So far its all hate, but that does NOT represent the feelings of the Americans in general, no matter how 'dumb' or 'ignorant' you deem them.

I'm just saying that he tries to piss people off to get ratings. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that half of his viewers are far lefties watching out of morbid curosity. I don't even like talking about him because it's just more publicity for him. His style of "debate" leaves something to be desired. He screams his head off and will even cut people's mic's at times. He's a political shock jock.

I have from time to time(when I was a liberal). Bill O'Reilly is more funny though, cuz of the way he flips his lid all the time.

I've listened to Rush before to confirm reports of his douche bag-ness,and I'm sure plenty of other "lefties" have done the same. At least Rush doesn't try to act like a moderate though.

I used to like Bill when he first started out. I thought his show was cutting edge. When he got to be the #1 rated show and had best selling books his ego took a big swelling. I can't watch him much anymore.
He is so full of himself. I am a conservative and I can admit that it still turns me off. When he was younger and hungrier and fox news was predicted to fail he actually put out some classic stuff. He was saying stuff that everyone else was afraid to say because of the politically correct mindset.
It is like he has become a charicature (sp?) of himself. Kind of like John Madden starting out being funny and cutting edge, and then becoming some old fat guy that was just trying to be a funny John Madden. I think it is tough for people to handle success. Their egos expand, they lose the hunger and some of the passion, and they try to be what people want them to be. And while they are trying to please the masses and feed the beast, they forget that the way they became popular is the fact that they ignored convention and marched to the beat of a different drummer. It happens with rock bands too. It is just tough to deal with success.
Somebody on this thread called him a racist. Those words are about as harsh as you can get in today's climate. I wonder why you view him as a racist. I can get the head exploding ego jabs and the pompous ass angle, but not the racist jibe. I think that is a bit unfair. I think that a lot of conservatives get painted with that brush, and being a conservative it irks me to no end.

Yeah, I find that when I watch O'Reilly I kind of agree with him, but he takes things way to far and states them in such a stupid way. The other day I saw him call Michael Moore 'UnAmerican!' What a ridiculous insult. Both O'Reilly subscribe to their own personal America and reject the America of the other side. I have plenty of criticism of Moore, but O'Reilly was just being dumb. The way he overstates, oversimplifies and uses typologies really turn me off, even if I am occasionaly sympathetic to his point of view. Plus he needs better manners and he's too self-rightous. That's why I read National Review and steer clear of Fox and Talk Radio.
