How important is spore quality?
    #28888828 - 07/27/24 08:29 AM (5 months, 18 days ago)

Hello,
as far is i know, a sporeprint contains millions of spores, and so millions of different genetics. There are good performers and some of them suck, when the wrong spores meet each other.

So is there really a thing, that a spore print can have a bad quality, in terms of developing weak, slow, or tiny fruits?

For me, a sporeprint from a tiny weak fruit, should be the same as from a big healty fruit. Or am i wrong?

But then, there is a thing, that spores from an albino, bring up albino fruits when fruiting. (afaik) so genetics from the fruit are in the spores aswell. hmm...

What are your experiences?

For me a bad spore print, is one, which is germinating slow, or not clean and i have to transfer a few times to get clean culture. Has nothing to do, with the end result.

No, this is correct.  Millions of genetic possibilities.  The fresher the spores; the likelier they are to generate more mates.

Albino spores will breed albino fruits due to domestic stabilization, generally.

As far as a “bad spore print”: I would agree with your stance that a spore print could be considered, or called bad if it is heavily contaminated, and/or is germinating slow due to a combination of being old, and/or stored improperly.
